The 422 Members of The American Legion Post 112 in Dalton, GA provide many services to veterans and to the community.

 

Services include:

  • Providing Honor Guard at funerals for all veterans with honorable discharge in our area upon request; averaging over 100 per year. Learn more about Honor Guard today!

  • On Veterans Day each year, American Legion in Dalton, GA organizes and assembles the Veterans Parade along with a special memorial program at the courthouse and they also provide a luncheon for the public attending the memorial service and parade.

  • Along with the Veterans Parade on Veterans Day, veterans participate in the school's “Salute Veterans Day.” Some Post 112 veterans are asked to talk about their experience while serving in the military.   

  • Twice monthly biscuits and sandwiches are provided for area veterans who receive health care at the Chattanooga VA clinic.

    • Free transportation is also provided to veterans who do not have any means of transportation to and from the VA clinic in Chattanooga.

  • Each spring, a special picnic is given to patients and staff of the Murfreesboro VA hospital.

  • Weekly space is provided at Post 112 in Dalton for professional counselors and/or consultant to advise and mentor veterans who suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

  • Food and gas is provided on a regular basis to area homeless, many who are veterans.

  • Cards and gifts are given to many homebound veterans and those in nursing homes.

  • During holidays, food baskets are furnished to many needy veterans’ families.

  • Deployed service men and women are honored by sending care packages, greeting cards and telephone cards.

  • An oratorical contest is sponsored annually and scholarships are awarded to area high school students.

  • Each summer 8 to 10 students are sent free of charge to a one week Boys State camp located in Gainesville, GA where they learn first hand how our government system is handled.

 

American Legion Dalton, GA takes pride in serving our community with these and other programs. We care for the men and women who chose to serve in the military to fight for freedom that we enjoy on a daily basis and for most part, take for granted.


American Legion Dalton, GA is a 501-C organization and all contributions are tax deductible. We appreciate any help that you might be able to give.

 

Membership meets on the last Thursday of each month (except November and December).

Bingo is open to the public and played on Fridays. Doors open at 4:00pm and bingo starts at 6:30pm.
